Western Conference Playoff Predictions 2025: Stars, Matchups & Bold Picks

The Western Conference never disappoints when it comes to playoff chaos. This year, it's a perfect blend of emerging powerhouses, aging legends, and historic performances. Whether you’re here for the Shai vs. Ant showdown or the return of the LeBron-Curry rivalry (with a Luka twist!), the West is loaded.

Below are my first-round predictions, originally featured on Harrison Talks Pod. These picks reflect not only the numbers—but the vibe, the momentum, and the storylines that matter.

(1) Thunder vs. (8) Timberwolves

Pick: Thunder Win

This one’s a highlight reel waiting to happen—Shai Gilgeous-Alexander vs. Anthony Edwards. Both are rising superstars with something to prove, and this series is going to be fast, flashy, and physical.

Why I’m picking OKC: With SGA on the floor, the Thunder have been dominant, going 62-12 this season. That kind of success doesn’t just show talent—it shows discipline and depth.

Anthony Edwards has been phenomenal, ranking 4th in the league with 27.4 points per game, but it won’t be enough against this well-oiled Thunder squad.

πŸ‘€ Watch For: Which young star will take the spotlight in crunch time—Shai or Ant?

(2) Rockets vs. (7) Clippers

Pick: Rockets Win

The Rockets are back in the playoffs for the first time in five years—and they’re not just happy to be here. This young team comes in hot after finishing the season on a 15-2 tear, vaulting into the 2nd seed.

The Clippers, led by James Harden’s resurgent play (29-12-8 in key games), bring experience and firepower. But Houston’s energy and momentum might be too much for a team that’s dealt with injuries and inconsistency all year.

It’s a classic youth vs. vets matchup—but I’m rolling with the new blood.

πŸ‘€ Watch For: Can the Clippers slow the pace, or will Houston run them out of the gym?

(3) Lakers vs. (6) Warriors

Pick: Lakers Win

You want drama? You’ve got it. LeBron vs. Curry is always must-watch, but throw Luka Doncic into the Lakers’ mix, and this might be the most electric first-round series in years.

After acquiring Luka mid-season, the Lakers surged, and they’re entering the playoffs with confidence, health, and star power. While Steph remains one of the most dangerous scorers in the league, Golden State has looked vulnerable late in the season.

This one could go six or seven, but I’m betting on LeBron, Luka, and momentum.

πŸ‘€ Watch For: Will Luka take over—or will this still be LeBron’s team in the clutch?

(4) Nuggets vs. (5) Grizzlies

Pick: Nuggets Win

It’s hard to pick against the reigning champs. This is the first-ever playoff meeting between Denver and Memphis, and it comes with plenty of intrigue.

Nikola Jokic is in playoff form after dropping a historic 30–20–20 game last month. His ability to control every aspect of the game is unmatched, and with Denver’s experience, they’ll likely exploit Memphis’s mid-season coaching shake-up.

The Grizzlies are tough, talented, and scrappy—but Jokic is just that much better.

πŸ‘€ Watch For: How will the Grizzlies defend Jokic without overcommitting and giving up easy looks?
